Dalí, the artist who inspires us
As you know, all our designs are inspired by Girona. Its roads, its weather, its villages… and even by its artists. There is a story behind every item and design.
Two of our best-sellers have so much in common both between them and with Girona’s history. Let’s discover the story behind Cadaqués and Portlligat Jersey.
In the second half of the twentieth century, Girona was filled with artists and bohemians – especifically located around Cap de Creus.
A couple became very popular: the surrealist painter Salvador Dalí (born in Figueres) and his wife, Gala. They chose a very well known place as their home base: Cadaqués.
Dalí became European Surrealism‘s best-known representative through his confused aesthetic ideas (the so-called paranoiac-critical method). He composed a highly personal dreamlike and symbolic universe, deeply disturbing and unsettling.
Guarded by Cap de Creus to the north and Cap de Norfeu to the south, Cadaqués is one of the most emblematic points of the landscape and seafaring tradition of the Costa Brava. Cadaqués is, definitely, one of our favourite places. Riding there is anything but easy: you will have to climb up Perafita (either through Roses or through Port de la Selva). After climbing this port, you will arrive to paradise: a tiny village with white houses and blue details everywhere. Completely inspiring, we visit Cadaqués any time we look for inspiration. |
3km far from Cadaqués’s center, we find Dalí and Gala’s house – located in Portlligat. Portlligat is internationally known for hosting Dalí’s house – it is now a museum! A house designed by himself, where he devised an ingenious multiple system of mirrors so that the first rays of the morning sun hit him directly – amongst other incredible ideas. Dalí once quoted that the sun rose over his bed earlier than anywhere else in Spain, as he put his head down towards the most easterly point of Spain.

Cadaqués Jersey
This jersey aims to capture the essence of this magical corner of the world. A place where many artists – not only Dalí – have been inspired to create some of the most incredible workpieces of Catalan art.
Portlligat Jersey
We wanted to capture art and culture in a jersey inspired by our land, Catalonia. Very related to Cadaqués Jersey, this one has a chromatic scale from the 70s. A fresh and elegant look to your bike rides!
